After-School Specials: Cacaxtla and Tlaxcala

Sooo, last week, after classes, we took a little day trip to really awesome places really close to us!

Cacaxtla had an awesome archaeological site. It used to be a palace, with surrounding mini-pyramids, and they've done a lot to try to preserve the area. We also had a run-in with a local herd of cows as we made our way back to the bus ;)

We then traveled to Tlaxcala, a really charming little town closeby. We got to visit the Municipal Building, which is COVERED in a beautiful mural depicting the history of Tlaxcala and Mexico in general. The Tlaxcalans were one of the tribes to befriend Cortes and the conquistadors back in the day, so it was interesting to view such vivid depictions.
